3D production

Impact Image is one of only a handful of UK production companies with a successful track record of producing and delivering 3D productions in all formats.

We offer a full 3D production solution from filming, through to post production and stereoscopic cinema-quality motion graphics. We strive to be at the forefront of technology. Our first 3D film was produced as far back as 2002.

One of our recent productions (2010) is the first ever 3D film made on the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows. Produced for Metropolis Entertainment and showing as a permanent installation at the London Science Museum, it is the culmination of several years' development and expertise in 3D film making.

Anaglyph

Two images are projected onto a screen, one for each eye. The two different images have slightly different perspectives. Each lens will block a different layer in the eye they are covering and each eye will see a different image.

Polarised

Similar to anaglyph images, 2 images synced onto one screen. The two images have different perspectives and different polarizations. Each lens of the glasses allows only one perspective into each eye.

Shutter break

Two images with different perspectives are alternatively projected on to a screen at high speed. A signal is sent to the glasses to tell them when to darken each lens so that each eye can see only one perspective.

Parallax Barrier

Two images with different perspectives are interlaced onto a screen simultaneously. A filter has a series of precision slits that allows each eye to see a different set of pixels for each perspective. Your brain processes these images into one image to produce the illusion of 3D.
